Ripping chains are designed for cutting along the grain during milling. Standard crosscut chains are primarily used for cutting across the grain, such as when cutting logs into shorter sections.
Choose your chain around the work you’re doing, as well as the specifications of your chainsaw and guide bar.
Choose the Right Fit
Check these three specifications before ordering:
- Pitch: the chain must match your bar and drive sprocket.
- Gauge: the drive links must match the width of your bar groove.
- Drive-link count: the chain loop must have the correct number of drive links for your bar.
Bar length and chainsaw model are useful starting points, but always confirm the specifications marked on your current bar or chain. A replacement bar can require a different chain from the saw’s original setup.
